Insertion Turbine Flowmeter

Fixed installation • High-accuracy • Long-life non-contact measurement for any liquid pipeline.

Approved by:CE, SIL-3, ATEX Explosion-proof certification

The insertion turbine flowmeter is a turbine sensor/transmitter designed for fixed installation on medium to large pipelines where standard in-line turbine meters are too costly or hard to install. It measures the flow velocity in the pipe and converts it to total flow through a built-in flow coefficient. The probe is inserted through a saddle or hot-tap fitting into the flow stream, so the pipe does not need to be cut or replaced with a full-bore meter.

It keeps the classic turbine advantages—high accuracy, good repeatability, fast response, pulse and 4–20 mA outputs—while giving the user low pressure loss, lower purchase cost, and the ability to remove the sensor for maintenance without stopping the line (when installed with a proper ball valve/hot-tap assembly).

  • Accuracy classes: ±1%R (standard); options ±0.5%R, ±0.2%R
  • Repeatability: 0.05%–0.2% (short-term)

  • Range ratio (turndown): 1:10 / 1:15 / 1:20 (by size and build)

  • Outputs (electrical): Pulse ; 4–20 mA; RS-485 , Modbus; HART optional

  • Power supply options: 24 VDC external; or lithium battery versions for local operation

  • Materials: 304 or 316L stainless steel

  • Medium temperature: Standard approx. −20 °C to +100 °C; high-temperature builds available (up to ~200 °C, model-dependent)

  • Ambient conditions: Typical −10 °C to +55 °C (LCD range); humidity 5–90% RH

  • Pressure ratings: Inline sizes commonly 1.6–6.3 MPa; small sizes available with higher classes; insertion assemblies built for industrial service

  • Enclosure / protection: IP65 (typical); explosion-proof options

  • Signal cabling: M20×1.5 interface; typical transmission distance up to ~1000 m

  • Recommended straight run: ≥20D upstream, ≥5D downstream; use a flow straightener if space is tight or upstream fittings vary

  • Accessories / builds: Sensor or transmitter type; intelligent integrated display; options for RTD/pressure inputs

  • Insertion design for large pipes — Installs through a fitting into the main line, so you can measure big diameters with low pressure loss and simpler mechanics.

  • High accuracy & repeatability — ±1%R (standard), options to ±0.5%R/±0.2%R, so results are stable enough for monitoring and trade use.

  • Wide turndown — Typical 1:10 to 1:20 range, so one meter covers variable operating conditions.

  • Clean pulse output — Frequency signal proportional to flow, so totalizing and PLC/SCADA integration are straightforward.

  • 4–20 mA & RS-485 options — Current loop and digital comms (Modbus/HART options by model), so it drops into existing control systems.

  • Battery or external power — Choose lithium battery or 24 VDC, so you can run locally or tie into plant power.

  • Stainless-steel wetted parts — 304/316L options, so compatibility is strong for water, oils, fuels, and many chemicals.

  • Low maintenance — Few moving parts, so ongoing costs stay down; the insertion form can be removed for service without stopping flow (with proper valve hardware).

  • High-pressure capable — Built for industrial pressures with sealed connections, so it suits utility and process lines.

  • Compact & lightweight — Easy to handle on site, so installation and checks are faster.

  • Large-diameter water supply pipelines where in-line meters are too expensive

  • Cooling water and circulating water systems in steel, power, petrochemical plants

  • Process water measurement in general industries (food, beverage, light chemical)

  • Fire-fighting and standby water lines that cannot be cut for meter installation

  • Temporary or semi-permanent measurement points on public utility lines

  • Energy-saving audits and flow balancing on plant manifolds

  • Measurement on pipelines that must stay live while the instrument is serviced
