Insertion Electromagnetic Flowmeter
Approved by:CE, SIL-3, ATEX Explosion-proof certification
The AFT Plug-in (Insertion) Electromagnetic Flowmeter is designed for large-diameter pipeline systems where full-bore flowmeter installation is difficult or costly.
Using Faraday’s electromagnetic induction principle, it measures the flow rate of conductive liquids by detecting the voltage generated as the fluid passes through a magnetic field.
This insertion-type configuration allows for installation under pressure (hot-tap) without interrupting flow, making it ideal for retrofit, monitoring, and municipal applications requiring minimal downtime and reduced installation cost.
Each meter is built with robust industrial-grade materials, ensuring long-term stability, minimal maintenance, and high repeatability even in harsh environmental conditions.
-
Insertion design: enables installation on pressurized pipelines without cutting the pipe.
-
Wide measurement range: suitable for pipelines DN100~DN3000.
-
Stable and Accurate Measurement: Measurement accuracy is unaffected by variations in physical parameters such as the liquid’s temperature, pressure, density, and viscosity. It maintains accuracy as long as the conductivity is greater than 5 µs/cm.
- Advanced Signal Processing: Utilizes advanced low-frequency square wave excitation for a stable zero point, strong resistance to disturbances, and highly reliable operation.
-
Dual-electrode structure : stable measurement in uneven flow profiles.
-
Multiple output options : 4~20 mA, pulse, RS485, Modbus for easy integration with DCS/PLC systems.
-
Robust protection : sensor rated IP68, transmitter rated IP65.
-
Versatile Output Signals: The flowmeter provides multiple output options, including 0-10mA DC, 4-20mA DC, and 1-5kHz frequency outputs, ensuring seamless integration with various industrial control systems.
- Electronic Fault Alarm – Built-in electronics raise immediate alerts for sensor or circuit faults, preventing data loss or false totals.

To ensure optimal performance, the flowmeter must be installed correctly. Key considerations include:
-
Location: Install away from strong electromagnetic fields, severe vibrations, and extreme temperature fluctuations. Ensure the pipeline remains full of the measured liquid.
-
Straight Pipe Requirements: For accurate readings, a straight pipe length of at least 10 times the pipe diameter (10D) is required upstream of the flowmeter, and at least 5 times the pipe diameter (5D) downstream.
-
Mounting Base: The mounting base must be welded perpendicular to the measured pipeline. Ensure the hole size in the pipeline matches the outer diameter of the through-hole on the mounting base.
-
Insertion Depth:
-
For pipes with a diameter (D) ≤ 400mm, the insertion depth (E) is calculated as: E = H – 0.5D (where H is the distance from the transducer electrode to the directional indicating arm).
-
For pipes with a diameter (D) > 400mm, the insertion depth is calculated as: E = H – 0.121D.
-
-
Grounding: Proper grounding is critical to prevent electrical interference. The ground terminal must be connected to the measured medium. The resistance should be less than 10Ω.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
-
Routine Maintenance: The transducer generally does not require scheduled maintenance. However, for media prone to causing scaling or buildup, periodic cleaning of the electrode and measuring head is necessary to maintain accuracy.
-
Troubleshooting: A troubleshooting guide is provided in the instruction manual to diagnose common issues such as negative flow readings, overrange output, or signal fluctuations. For complex issues, please contact our technical support. Do not attempt to repair the unit yourself. Always switch off the ball valve before dismounting the transducer.
