Split Electromagnetic Flowmeter
High-Accuracy Flow Measurement with Remote Installation Flexibility
Approved by:CE, SIL-3, ATEX Explosion-proof certification
AFT’s Split Electromagnetic Flowmeter is the ideal solution for measuring conductive liquids in applications where the sensor location is challenging, inaccessible, or exposed to harsh operating conditions. By separating the robust, sealed flow sensor from the advanced converter (transmitter), this system allows the display and electronics to be mounted in a safe, convenient location for easy access and monitoring.
This configuration delivers the same high-accuracy, obstructionless measurement as our integrated models but adds a critical layer of flexibility and operator safety. It is the definitive choice for submerged pipelines, high-vibration areas, extreme temperature zones, and facilities requiring centralized control room monitoring.
-
Enhanced Installation Flexibility & Operator Safety: Mount the converter hundreds of feet away from the sensor. This is ideal for installing sensors in underground vaults, on elevated pipelines, or in hazardous areas, while keeping the user interface in a secure and accessible location.
-
Robust Sensor for Demanding Environments: The fully welded, no-moving-parts sensor is designed for long-term submersion and can be configured with an IP68 protection rating, ensuring maximum reliability in flooded or high-humidity environments.
-
Uncompromised Accuracy and Performance: Delivers measurement accuracy up to ±0.2% and is independent of fluid density, viscosity, temperature, and pressure. The open-bore design creates no pressure loss, optimizing system efficiency.
-
Broad Chemical & Abrasion Compatibility: A comprehensive selection of liner materials (including PTFE, PFA, and Polyurethane rubber) and electrode materials (including 316L, Hastelloy C, Titanium, and Tantalum) ensures compatibility with a wide range of corrosive and abrasive fluids.
-
Advanced Diagnostics and Communication: The intelligent converter features self-diagnosis alarm outputs for empty pipe detection, excitation failure, and flow limits. It integrates seamlessly into modern control systems with standard 4-20mA, Pulse/Frequency, and RS485 Modbus outputs.
-
Clear, Accessible User Interface: The remotely mounted converter features a backlit LCD display for excellent readability in all lighting conditions. In harsh environments, parameters can be set via infrared touch buttons without opening the converter cover.
- Self-diagnostic functions: Continuous system monitoring for fault detection and maintenance planning.
-

-
Protection class: IP65 / IP67 / IP68 (Optional)
-
Explosion protection: Ex d ia [ia Ga] IICT6Gb
-
Sensor Installation: The flow sensor is installed in the pipeline following standard requirements for electromagnetic flowmeters, including ensuring proper grounding and adequate upstream/downstream straight pipe runs to guarantee measurement accuracy.
-
Converter Mounting: The converter can be wall-mounted, panel-mounted, or pipe-mounted at a location convenient for operators, providing easy access for configuration, monitoring, and maintenance.
-
Interconnecting Cable: A dedicated, shielded cable connects the sensor to the converter. It is critical to route this signal cable separately from high-voltage power lines to prevent electromagnetic interference. Standard and extended cable lengths are available to suit application needs.
-
System Integration: With its array of standard outputs, the AFT Split Electromagnetic Flowmeter easily interfaces with PLCs, SCADA systems, and other data acquisition hardware for complete process automation and control.
The split-type configuration is specifically engineered for challenging installations across numerous industries:
-
Water & Wastewater: Monitoring flow in underground distribution networks, treatment plant intake channels, and submerged outfall pipes.
-
Chemical & Petrochemical: Measuring aggressive fluids where the sensor is in a hazardous or restricted area, allowing for safe remote operation.
-
Mining & Aggregate: Applications with heavy vibration or inaccessible slurry lines where the converter must be isolated.
-
Pulp & Paper: High-temperature or high-humidity locations around paper machines and processing tanks.
-
Large-Scale Facilities: Any plant with centralized control rooms that require local display and control to be separate from the process pipeline
